'Doctor Cha Jeong-sook' Min Woo-hyuk talk about his thoughts about the serie final:"I hate the ending so much, I didn't want to film it"

The actor of the drama Dr cha Min woo-hyuk who plays the role of Dr Roy kim the new love interest of DR cha had an interview and talked about his thoughts of the ending and what happened to his character.

"When I first set up Roy, I wondered whether my feelings for Cha Jeong-sook were love, sympathy, or a sense of lacking in Roy's family. I think viewers might have understood that in the final episode. Expressing that was my homework. Until the ending, it only seemed like love, so I think viewers were curious about whether Jeong-sook and Roy would really end up well together.

I also heard about the character Roy Kim created by Min Woo-hyuk. He was an orphan and had never experienced love from a family. Of course, he grew up receiving love from excellent foster parents, but he felt a sense of lacking in his family. He thought that family was nothing special and just like everyone else, but when he saw Cha Jeong-sook, he wondered if this could be what real parents look like. He felt indirectly that she made him feel the lack of family he had never felt before. However, seeing Jeong-sook being unrecognized, scorned, and ignored by her family, he felt sympathy for her and wanted to protect her. He also developed a desire to rely on her.

On the other hand, in the ending, the love line between Roy Kim and Cha Jeong-sook didn't continue. Although there was a strange pinkish vibe between the two, ultimately, Cha Jeong-sook tells Roy Kim to meet a wonderful woman. Roy Kim, upon hearing that, starts a new relationship with Jeong-sook's colleague.

How did Min Woo-hyuk perceive such an ending? When the ending story came out, Min Woo-hyuk immediately laughed and said, "I hated it so much." He added, "Even the director completed the final edit with regret over Roy." He continued, "I either wanted to remain friends with Jeong-sook or go back to the United States and meet my foster parents who raised me more than just family to find the true meaning of family. Jeong-sook tells Roy to meet a different woman who suits him as a teacher, and Roy actually listens to her." He revealed his frustration and tried to lighten the mood with a laugh.

He then said, "Actually, I tried my best not to fall for that character," referring to the 'some' relationship between him and Jeong-sook's friend. He jokingly questioned, "How did it suddenly become like an American style? Well, Roy is American, but still."

Regarding the viewer response to the ending, Min Woo-hyuk said, "I won't look for reactions," and expressed his hope that they would view it positively."

THE COMMENTS:

1. I can relate to the fact that it wouldn't have been easy for the actor to conduct such an interview. It seems like a lively and engaging conversation.

2. I understand what you mean. I didn't expect much romantic connection between Jeong-sook and Roy either, so it's understandable that they didn't end up together. I thought Jeong-sook would remain as a colleague or friend. It feels like there were many unnecessary scenes in the ending, even without showing Roy meeting someone else. It felt like they were trying too hard to create unnecessary moments, not just for Roy but for other characters as well.

3. No, it was pre-produced, so if the director was unsatisfied with Roy's ending, they could have edited it or created a different character arc instead of just expressing their disappointment.

4. The actor portrayed the character well, didn't they?

5. If you haven't watched the drama and are curious about the character's ending, haha, it might seem crazy.

6. I understand, sometimes unexpected revelations can catch us off guard.

7. It's quite surprising that they go on volunteer activities together as ex-spouses, haha. Wouldn't it have been better if they had become friends instead of Roy?

8. I agree, it has been three years and it would have made more sense for Roy to find someone new. It's not necessary to explicitly show that, and it would have been enough to see him maintaining a friendship with Jeong-sook. It's satisfying to hear the actor express those thoughts so candidly.

9. The actor portrayed the character well, didn't they? I also wondered if it was necessary to show him meeting someone else while I was watching.

10. It seems like the actor understood the character of Roy better than the writer did. Even though the writer created the character, it feels like they didn't pay much attention to Roy. On the other hand, the actor must have put a lot of thought into portraying the character and had their own interpretation. It's funny how the ending was just thrown in like that. It's been said that it was for the sake of Jeong-sook's solo ending, but it would have made more sense for them to remain friends in the overall flow of the story. Even though three years is a long time, it's an unseen time for the viewers, so naturally, it lacks credibility. It's crazy how they appeared throughout the drama like a main character and then suddenly, three years later, he meets another woman. Why did they include those scenes and that character if that was the case?

11. It's refreshing to be honest instead of constantly praising the writer's choices.

12. It's great that you appreciate the actor's portrayal of the character.

13. I understand, I was too frustrated with Roy's character development while watching the drama. Even if the romantic connection didn't work out, it would have been better to have an open-ended ending rather than introducing an affair storyline instead of developing an open narrative.

14. It's understandable that Roy's story didn't have a romantic connection, but openly showing him meeting another woman was quite unexpected and surprising, right? Haha.

15. It would have been nice if he just stayed as Cha Jung-sook's friend.

  1. My husband and I felt that it was a complete letdown for Dr. Cha to not get together with Dr. Kim at the end. He was always interested in her and she must have known that from all his interactions with her. If she was not interested in a relationship with him, then she should have made her feelings known earlier in the series. Instead, we watched all 16 episodes only to find out that she did not want a relationship with him. In addition, his last scene with her was short and abrupt and didn't do his character justice. Since he played a major role in every episode, his being rejected by Dr. Cha in a scene that lasted about two minutes or less was very disappointing and frustrating.

    1. that why I always stay away from Kdrama finals, I understand that they wanted her to enjoy being solo and that was the goal of the whole show but they made us invested in his character more then they should have. his whole existence now feels unnecessary

    2. so annoying that they gave a traditional ending with her growing vegetables and living with her mother- making her into some sort of saint after showing her with as a multifaceted person. I would have liked it if she showed some disappointment when Dr. Roy ended up with someone else. We will then be back to square one with someone searching for love. Or for that matter - roy ringing her up in the last scene and she saying "why not"?
