Boys groups songs are actually better than you think

People kept saying that boy groups these days are flopping and not good, so I just assumed that was true. But lately, the boy group songs I’ve happened to hear by chance are all really good, so I’m confused.

Today I randomly listened to TWS’ “Isn’t It Cool If It Doesn’t Go Your Way” or whatever it’s called — the song was so good I added it to my playlist.
I think WISH’s song is called “Pop Pop”? That one’s also good, so I’m currently listening to it too.
As for BONEX, my friend from Wonderwall recommended some of their songs and all of them were so good they went straight into my playlist.
I don’t really know ZB1’s recent songs, but I did like their debut track “In Bloom” and listened to it a lot.

Honestly, I’ve been following idol stuff for years and stopped looking up K-pop songs a long time ago — I mostly just listen to pop songs now. So the fact that these boy group songs I’ve heard by chance lately are all better than I expected just made me curious.
To be honest, I also had my own prejudices and didn’t really bother to listen to them...
But looking at the songs I ended up liking, I think maybe I just have a thing for refreshing, rookie-style songs

The comments :

  1. I liked "Wish of Wish," "Bonex Do I Love You," "ZB1 Doctor Doctor," "RIIZE Get A Guitar Boom Boom Bae," and "TWS First Meeting" from the first listen. I'm a multi-fandom fan but lately everything sounds good.
  2. ENHYPEN and TREASURE songs are also really good... Among boy groups, I listen to their songs the most.
  3. TWS is getting great reactions on Shorts, Reels, and TikTok. Reels are increasing by 600 a day and they keep ranking in Shorts.
  4. Please listen to The Wind's "Only One" — seriously, it's the best refreshing song.
  5. Whether it's good or not, the industry revolves too much around fandoms, so it’s hard to go viral. To become popular, music needs to be consumed by people of all ages and genders — 10s, 20s, 30s, 40s. But most boy group songs are only consumed by girls in their teens and 20s, so it can’t be helped.
  6. Songs are good but somehow not on the charts, lol. If the song is really good, it should go back up like D-Crunch did. It’s just that fans like it so they think it sounds good.
  7. I liked "Wish of Wish," "Bonex Do I Love You," "ZB1 Doctor Doctor," "RIIZE Get A Guitar Boom Boom Bae," and "TOUOURS First Meeting" from the first listen. I'm a multi-fandom fan but lately everything sounds good.
  8. Why do people bash girl group comebacks saying all their songs suck and flopped, yet praise their oppas' songs like crazy? It’s so pathetic lol. Not just the quality of the songs, even their faces — some of them are so bad you wonder how they even became idols.
  9. Agreed. Lately, 5th-gen songs are all good.
  10. Tone-deaf.
  11. I agree that the songs are good, but people just don’t even bother to give them a listen.
  12. Boy group songs are really good, but the barrier to entry is too high because it's too fandom-centered.
  13. After BTS became big, everyone started copying them and made their songs more performance-oriented, but now it feels like it’s slowly shifting back to songs that are easier to listen to.
  14. EVN's songs are really good.
  15. Try listening to "All the Poetry and Novels Inside Me," the debut song by Close Your Eyes (that’s the group name). I’ve been listening to it a lot lately. Not sure if it’ll be your style though.
  16. If you like refreshing, rookie-style songs, I recommend The Wind. Their recent song "Only One" is great, and last year’s "Hello" and "My First Love" were also nice. Their songs have a fresh, youthful vibe. From their debut song onward, they have solid tracks — give them a listen.
  17. Try listening to ONF’s songs too — they’re really good.
  18. Check out TREASURE's "Yellow."
  19. If you go looking for boy group songs, you’ll find good ones... honestly, sometimes even better than some girl group songs. It’s just that the public tends not to listen to them much these days.
  20. I still listen to "In Bloom" because I like it so much, lol.
