Wow, (G)I-DLE even split profits equally from individual activities.

I thought they didn’t do that anymore these days, but apparently, many still do. After their contract renewal, they changed it so individual activities are now individually accounted.

Comments:

  1. That kind of contract condition really needs to go, it's so weird...
  2. REPLY TO 1-> Yeah, I thought it changed too, but seems like more groups still split everything than I thought...
  3. Before contract renewals, it seemed like all idols did that...
  4. REPLY TO 3-> Yeah, after the contract renewal, they switched to individual settlements. I saw that on "The Manager".
  5. Huh, why…
  6. Can’t believe some still do that.
  7. Usually in the first contract it’s like that. They change it upon renewal.
  8. Wait, even individual activities? That’s crazy.
  9. We were also under Cube, but even a few years before renewal it was already individual accounting. Maybe because (G)I-DLE didn’t do much solo stuff?
  10. REPLY TO 9->  Maybe... but on "The Manager", Soyeon said that group income was way higher than her royalties, so yeah...
  11. Normally if a group gets popular, they switch to individual settlements even before renewal. But I guess Cube didn’t do that? Did other groups?
  12. What solo activities did (G)I-DLE even do??? Shuhua’s YouTube? Soyeon’s survival show?
  13. REPLY TO 12-> There were a lot.
  14. REPLY TO 12-> Yuqi probably earned a ton from her Chinese activities.
  15. REPLY TO 12-> Foreign members usually do solo work in their home countries too.
  16. REPLY TO 12-> (G)I-DLE shot a lot of personal ads too… it varied by member though.
  17. REPLY TO 12-> Just look at Miyeon — wasn't she ranked #1 in idol schedules in 2021 or 2022?
  18. Oh... they probably made a lot in China.
  19. Wow, Yuqi must have made a fortune. I remember hearing she made more from her Chinese activities than Soyeon did from royalties — and that’s included in the shared split??
  20. Maybe it’s because they’re from a mid-sized company?
  21. REPLY TO 20 -> My faves are from a mid-sized one too... I hope they’re not splitting individual activity income like that;;
  22. But this group actually had more individual activities than you'd think.
  23. I heard Yuqi has a separate agency in China. Soyeon and Miyeon did a lot in Korea. Especially Miyeon...
  24. All five were super active in personal work like variety shows and ads, so I can’t tell who would be at a loss. Yuqi probably got paid separately for her China gigs.
  25. Yuqi and Shuhua both had separate agencies in China and were really active solo. So it’s hard to say who lost out.
  26. Since all 5 were busy with personal work — composing (Soyeon), Chinese gigs (Yuqi), tons of TV appearances (Miyeon), Thai promotions (Minnie), and solo gigs (Shuhua) — it doesn’t really look like anyone got short-changed.
  27. Oh it said (G)I-DLE? I thought it was just "idols" in general lol. Other groups had this too — remember when variety show regulars were called “the breadwinners” of the group?
  28. Wow, Yuqi must’ve made so much money...
  29. I guess in debut contracts, since they don’t know who will blow up, they set it up like that...
  30. Oh, I assumed that was normal. Now that they’ve renewed their contract, it’s changed. Don’t most groups split solo earnings at debut?
  31. Maybe they do that to keep the team bound together?
  32. That would seriously piss me off.
  33. REPLY TO 32-> It’s not even about who’s losing or gaining, but just the fact that your hard-earned money is going into someone else’s account... that’s just kinda off lol.
  34. Wow… they’re all so niceㅜ
  35. That’s a bit much.
  36. But isn’t that common in first contracts? Then they change it when they renew.
  37. REPLY TO 36-> Yeah, I think it’s because they don’t know who’ll succeed at first.
  38. Maybe they split it equally to pay off trainee and debut costs quicker — if it’s individual, some will pay off debts and others won’t.
  39. Cube even split the debt evenly before, so I bet this was a group decision after discussing it.
