[Exclusive] Wendy leaves SM and joins ASND, following fromis_9

A new agency has been confirmed for Red Velvet’s Wendy.

According to an exclusive report from iMBC Entertainment on the 25th, Wendy has recently signed an exclusive contract with ASCEND (ASND). ASCEND is known as the new agency for fromis_9 (members: Song Hayoung, Park Jiwon, Lee Chaeyoung, Lee Nagyung, Baek Jiheon).

Almost as if foreshadowing this move, ASCEND announced on their official SNS at midnight, “We’re announcing a new artist today.”

Earlier, on the 4th, Wendy officially parted ways with SM Entertainment. At the time, she said, “After spending a long time together with SM, who helped shape who I am today, I’ve decided to end my exclusive contract and prepare for a new challenge in a different environment. I sincerely thank everyone at SM who allowed me to debut as Red Velvet and meet the ReVeluvs. Thanks to all the support and care I received, I’ve become who I am today. And above all, to the ReVeluvs who have always cheered me on warmly, every moment with you was precious. With your strength, I’ve been able to keep moving forward no matter what happened.”

  7. (reply to 4) Why EDAM? That’s sudden.
  8. (reply to 5) She’s still in Red Velvet.
  9. Oh? Not EDAM? That’s unexpected.
  10. So it’s not EDAM?
  11. I thought that company only managed fromis_9.
  12. It’s a completely new company.
  13. It’s totally a startup, but they’ve got fromis_9 and now Wendy—interesting.
  14. Wow, a startup?
  15. Good luck!! The photo is so pretty.
  16. She really went with a totally new agency, whoa.
  17. That’s really surprising.
  18. Who started this company? I’m curious.
  19. Wonder if this agency has any showbiz connections like SM.
  20. Is this agency really new? Did anyone know them before?
  21. I trust Wendy made a smart choice. Good luck!
  22. No one seems to know who runs this place. Even fromis_9 fans couldn’t find any past records... their office is just in a WeWork space, and the name is unusual. But they seem to be doing well.
  23. As long as it’s not that agency, it's all good.
  24. (reply to 23) Exactly. As long as it's not that one, I support her.
  25. Is it started by someone experienced?
  26. Where did the CEO work before, for so many artists to be joining?
  27. Usually these agencies are started by veteran managers, right?
  28. Glad to hear they’re competent. I hope things go well for Wendy.
  29. Hope Wendy does great!
  30. As long as it’s not that infamous agency former SM artists joined, I’m happy. Hope she thrives.
  31. Wendy fighting!!!
  32. It reminds me of MC Mong’s agency—super new but recruiting big names from the start. Curious what connections they have.
  33. So it wasn’t EDAM after all. Wendy, good luck!
  34. Congrats on escaping SM^^
  35. Wendy, good luck! I’ll cheer you on.
  36. Looks like the agency prefers managing stable artists with fandoms rather than taking risks with rookies.
  37.  I thought it was a company started by former PLEDIS staff, but fromis_9 fans couldn’t confirm that either.
  38. I saw a fromis_9 member complimenting the company on Shorts. Fans responded really positively too. Since the company is still small, they seem to take great care of their artists. Wendy, fighting!
  39. As long as it’s not that one agency, it’s fine
  40. Seriously, anywhere but that one. Wendy, good luck!
